Dr. Christie Berry, is a mom of special needs children, small farm manager, natural health practitioner, minister, author, speaker, and educator. She has her Masters and Doctorates in Education with a concentration in Special Education, a certificate in Christian Counseling, was certified as an EMT, is certified as a Gospel Medical Missionary, and is a licensed Ministerial Elder along with her husband, Richard "Satch" Berry.
As an , she has over 20 years experience working with and learning from a variety of special needs children, their parents, and therapists in both public and home settings. She is the founder and chair of a national home education organization and school developed and focused on training parents of special needs children.
Working with professionals in multiple fields, Christie has brought her experience and training to the parents of special needs children since 1992. She believes that God has equipped each parent with the tools to move forward in the mission to educate their children and that the parents are the experts. She and the organization host Special Mom's Retreats to encourage and minister to the special needs of mom's.
Christie teaches workshops on various topics to parents, churches, and professionals in the home education, public education, church education, and special education arenas.
She has worked with local organizations such as Christian Home Educator's Fellowship of Alabama (CHEF), Enrichment Fellowship, Tennessee Valley Fellowship (TVF), Pro Oklahoma and the Special Education Action Committee (parent training and information organizations - PTI).
National organizations include National Challenged Homeschoolers Associated Network (Nathhan), Christian Homes and Special Kids (CHASK), and National Home Educator's Network (NHEN). Other connections include Illinois AD HOC Committee for Education, businesses such as the Therapy Works, Inc, an international Sensory Integration training company, and local psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, neurodevelopmentalists, speech therapists and physical therapists.
As an , "Dr. Christie" is certified as a Medical Missionary and has worked in the natural and alternative health field since 2003. She trained as an Emergency Medical Tech with the US Army during her time in service in 1985-87, and continued her EMT and First Aid Certification throughout her time as a foster parent until 2002. She is also certified as an Auriculotherapist and Acupuncture Detox Specialist. Her Doctorates in Special Education has provided her the opportunity to work with many special needs children helping them with diet and natural supplementation for improved learning and health.
Christie believes that it is important to treat each person in heart, soul, mind and strength. Treating illness through diet, encouragement, supplements, teaching, prayer, spiritual guidance, emotional healing, support, and alternative interventions that have been provided by the Creator, gives the client holistic healing. She has worked with several local health care professionals in the Huntsville area including Naturopath, Chiropractor, Acupuncturist, Herbalist, Behaviorist, Psychiatrist, Christian Counselor, Emotional Freedom, Message Therapist, TKM, and others to benefit the health and well being of her clients.
Her health interventions provide the clients the opportunity to control their own health and well being through self awareness and self intervention, teaching the client natural health for their individual needs.
Christie also conducts , Keynote speeches, health seminars, historical and naturally made foods, medicines, and personal care products, historical home-keeping, motivational speaking, Biblical Studies, and much, much more. She has many years of experience in diverse and interesting places and her love of learning has brought her a wealth of information, insights and abilities.
